Czech Republic, Prague

As the capital city of the Czech Republic, Prague is situated in the heart of Europe. Know for its history, stunning architecture and Christmas markets it offers a mix of non exerting tourist activity for the health traveller.

Though the national language in Prague is Czech, English and German are also widely used by the residents.

Clinics & Facilities

The standard of plastic and cosmetic surgery in the Czech Republic is very high, strictly controlled and surgeons need to be licensed and certified.

The facilities and procedures are identical or comparable to clinics throughout, Europe. The clinics offer a full range of cosmetic procedures only and the highly skilled surgeons are members of the UK General Medical Council.

For those concerned about infections you can be reassured that the clinics have very high levels of hygiene and use disposable instruments and materials.

Travel

Only 2 hours from the UK and flights scheduled daily from most major airports, it's quicker to get to Prague than it is to drive from Birmingham to London. Flights cost from as little as £40 and as the Czech Republic is member of the EU no visas are required.

Upon arrival Surgery Worldwide will arrange for you to be met and escorted to your apartment and surgical clinic, and from Prague's Airport, Ruzyne the journey will take roughly 25 minutes.

As with many European destinations Prague's time zone is one hour ahead, so no need to adjust your body clock or work out the time before calling home.

The electricity supply in Prague is 220v. Electrical sockets take standard European two-pin plugs, so you will need to travel with an adaptor

Prague Castle is one of the most spectacular and popular attractions, but with the Old and New Towns and the Jewish Quarter, Prague offers a wealth of history.

Getting around is fairly easy, it has a good transport network consisting of bus, tram and metro links.

Accommodation

Though there are many styles of hotels to stay at within Prague but we do recommend that you stay at the clinic accommodation on site. Accommodation, consultation office, pre- and post-operation treatment, all at one address and at a rate of £40 per night for a self conatined apartment that sleeps two.

Climate

Prague has a fairly mild climate with warm, sometimes damp, summers and cold winters not too dissimilar to the UK.

Probably the best time to visit Prague is between May and September when weather is not too hot or too cold, the weather is the sunniest and city is not overcrowded, though the period between May and August is the rainiest!

Summer - The average temperature is 24 °C (74 °F) but can reach 30 °C (92 °F). At night, the temperature falls to around 15 °C (46 °F).

Winter - The daily temperature averages around the freezing point and falls at night to -4 °C (26 °F). January and February are the coldest months when the daily temperature hovers around -5 °C (23 °F). Snow is rare in Prague during winter.

Please remember during the summer months that exposure to sun is not recommended following surgery, even with the use of sun block, especially for those who are having facial cosmetic procedures.

Currency

The currency in Prague is the Czech Republic Koruny. (czk). Czech Republic expects to join the Euro (€) in 2012. The Euro is accepted in some larger hotels, shops and restaurants, though most only take the Czech Crown.

There are a wide range of cuisines available within walking distance of the clinic. £3* will buy you a simple pub lunch and you can dine in a mid range restaurant for an evening meal from £10*. Czech beer is know for being cheap but if undergoing surgery we would not advise consuming alcohol, this is great for your travelling companion but not you!

Surgery Worldwide have sent many cosmetic patients to Prague with great results and would highly recommend it to those who want cost effective surgery, procedures are on average 50-60% less than in the USA or the UK, without a compromise on quality.
